- Design and construction period: 2000-2011
Due to permanent rising of volume of traffic the construction of the 2nd tube of the Tauern tunnel has become necessary to provide a higher level of safety for road-users.
Since completion traffic was led through the newly built 2nd tube, while the 1st tube was refurbished and the crosscuts were driven through. In june 2011 all works were finished and both tubes were open to traffic.
